The Solution is Education:
Regardless of the breeds' intelligence rating, no dog is born with a set of
good manners. They all need to be trained. Dogs are territorial and have
psychological need to have both the physical and behavioral boundaries defined
by its' owner.
Start a training program when the pup is 3-4 months old. Keep the sessions
short 5-10 minutes long, don't over work. Always quit while they are still eager
to learn. Use encouragement rather than force or punishment.
A simple way to evaluate a training method, is—ask yourself how would you
respond to it. Do not humanize them—their brain is not structured to handle
the abstract or reasoning.
